Introduction

 

Since the early 90’s Chemical Dependency hospitals in the Kingdom have been treating Saudis for the Chemical Dependency problems. In fact, there is serious deficiency in the professionals who are trained in this field. Saudis need to be trained as technicians so that they can treat these patients, keeping in mind the peculiar social, cultural, and Islamic character of the Saudi society.

 

Objectives

 

This program aims to contribute to the enhancement of the healthcare services in the Kingdom, through preparation of highly specialized and informed group of counselors. Graduates of this program will be capable of individual and group counseling and recognizing family dynamics, which will contribute to comprehensive care of families and patients.

 

Description

 

The duration of the Diploma program is four (4) academic semesters and will be considered for the job title “Chemical Dependency Counselor – Level I”. The program will be taught by the highly qualified experts consisting of PhD holders and Masters Degree in the above discipline. The program consists of theoretical instructions and practical/clinical rotation in various private/government hospitals that treat addictive diseases.
